4 Tips for Sourcing Fulvic Acid – Part 4 Extraction Method

Extraction methods are determined by the raw source material that is mined or harvested from a prehistoric deposit. The location of the deposit may require heavy equipment and extreme methods to remove the material from the earth.

Coal-derived sources of humic acid like Leonardite and lignite are not only part of a less environmentally conscious industry, but also contain heavy metals which need to be removed with harsh chemicals. Typically, these sources have very little fulvic acid*.

Shilajit and other sources found under deep pressure at high elevations may also be susceptible to heavy metals. The location itself might require extreme methods of removing the material and harsh chemicals to extract the nutrients making it less kind to the earth.

In contrast, a perfect storm occurred millions of years ago making Mineral Logic’s deposit a one-of-a-kind treasure of earth’s earliest molecules. A life sustaining complex that is not being made today, that cannot be replicated in a lab. Like a pristine vein of gold, formed when the earth was a lot newer, with a diversity of life forms now long extinct. And we have only scratched the surface of what our deposit can provide.

Our deposit rests close to the surface of the woodland floor that has been protected by a layer of iron ore. This layer of ore is peeled back with a small backhoe and the deposit is exposed for easy removal. We remove an equal number of marine layers to freshwater layers that have compacted down. The soil is returned to fill in and regrow vegetation and trees.

Mineral Logic’s extraction method begins with a lengthy process of “breathing” where the two distinct layers are homogenized. Beneath the science, there is something magical about how this process, passed down in family generations, prepares the material for water extraction.

We are tremendously honored to be stewards of this rare mineral and organic acid deposit and take care to keep our processes and land management sustainable.

*True fulvic acid quantification is obtained by the standardized test methods Lamar or ISO.
